  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies used to improve site functionality

c. Financial Account Information via Third-Party Aggregation

If you choose to connect your financial accounts through our client portal, we use Plaid Technologies, Inc. (“Plaid”) to securely access your financial account data. Through Plaid, we may collect:

  • Bank account balances and transaction history
  • Credit card balances, limits, and transaction history
  • Loan and mortgage account information including balances and payment history
  • Investment account holdings and valuations
  • Account numbers (last four digits only), institution names, and account types
Important Note on Plaid

Connecting your financial accounts via Plaid is entirely optional. You may use our financial planning services without connecting accounts, though some client portal features will be unavailable.

Your use of Plaid’s services is also subject to Plaid’s Privacy Policy, available at plaid.com/legal/.

d. Information Collected for Investment Advisory Services

If you engage HonorPoint Financial for investment advisory services, we collect additional information through our Client Discovery Questionnaire, including your financial goals, risk tolerance, time horizon, household and dependent information, insurance coverage, and tax situation. This information is used to develop your Investment Policy Statement and to provide ongoing advisory services, and is retained as part of your permanent client file consistent with our recordkeeping obligations as a registered investment adviser.

e. SMS / Text Message Opt-In

If you provide your mobile phone number and opt in to receive text messages from HonorPoint Financial, we collect your phone number and your consent to receive SMS communications. Message frequency may vary. Standard message and data rates may apply.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect to:

  • Respond to inquiries and schedule consultations
  • Deliver financial planning, tax preparation, and related services
  • Power client portal features including net worth tracking, spending analysis, debt management, and budgeting
  • Display and analyze your connected financial accounts in the client portal (with your consent)
  • Send transactional and appointment-related SMS or email notifications (with your consent)
  • Send informational updates, newsletters, or service announcements (with your consent)
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and professional obligations (including IRS requirements and applicable securities regulations)
  • Improve our website and client experience

4. SMS Communications

By opting in to SMS communications from HonorPoint Financial, you agree to receive text messages related to appointment reminders and confirmations, service updates and document requests, and educational content and financial tips (if you subscribe to marketing messages).

You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text message. For help, reply HELP or contact us at info@honorpointfinancial.com.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your phone number or SMS opt-in data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • With service providers who assist us in operating our website, delivering services, or processing payments — including Plaid Technologies, Inc. for financial account aggregation, our client’s qualified custodian, Altruist Financial LLC, for clients utilizing investment advisory and portfolio rebalancing services, scheduling platforms, document signing tools, and payment processors. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.
  • With government agencies or regulatory bodies when required by law, court order, or legal process.
  • With your consent, or at your direction, such as when you authorize us to communicate with a third party on your behalf (e.g., the IRS via Form 2848 or Form 8821).
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of business assets, in which case we will provide notice before your information is transferred.

6. Third-Party Financial Data Aggregation (Plaid)

To enable account connectivity features in our client portal, we partner with Plaid Technologies, Inc. Plaid is a financial technology company that allows you to securely connect your bank, credit card, loan, and investment accounts to our platform.

When you connect your financial accounts through our portal:

  • You will interact directly with Plaid’s secure connection interface to authenticate with your financial institution
  • HonorPoint Financial never sees or stores your bank login credentials
  • Plaid retrieves your account data and provides it to us in a structured format
  • We store only the data necessary to provide our financial planning services

You may disconnect your financial accounts at any time through the client portal or by contacting us. Disconnecting your accounts will stop future data retrieval but will not automatically delete historical data already retrieved, which you may request be deleted separately.

Plaid’s collection and use of your data is governed by Plaid’s own Privacy Policy.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. Our safeguards include:

  • Encrypted data storage and transmission
  • Secure client portal access with optional multi-factor authentication
  • Row-level security controls ensuring clients can only access their own data
  • Restricted access to client records by staff and service providers
  • We do not store your Plaid access credentials or full account numbers

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal and financial records for the period required by applicable law and professional standards. Tax records and financial planning documents are generally retained for a minimum of seven (7) years, consistent with IRS guidance and our Record Retention Schedule (HP-RRS-001). SMS opt-in records are retained for a minimum of four (4) years or as required by applicable regulations.

Financial account data retrieved through Plaid is retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services, after which it may be deleted upon request.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal and professional retention obligations
  • Disconnect your financial accounts from our portal at any time
  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@honorpointfinancial.com.

10. Children’s Privacy

Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of our website or services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
